Medicare Part E; The NEW Public Option
Recently Harry Reid has suggested “Medicare Part E” would be a viable solution to providing coverage to all citizens. This attempt to pass a public option is just an attempt to get the fox in the hen house. How can Senator Reid suggest, with a straight face, adding to a program so rife with corruption that President Obama has stated that he will pay for much of the new program with fraud savings? As I wrote in an earlier post “clean up the fraud then we can talk.”
What could we expect from Medicare Part E? I live in South Florida a hub for Medicare fraud. Let me relate an example of the strong controls that are currently in place watching our tax dollars in Medicare. As reported in the Miami Herald; after being released from prison for murder, Guillermo Gonzalez opened a health care business licensed by Medicare. He recently pleaded guilty to filing almost $600,000 in phony claims. Much like Medicare Part E would “kill” Medicare (I know it is already dying) Mr. Gonzalez pleaded guilty to the fraud following his confession to murdering and dismembering another individual.
I repeat: Clean up the fraud then we can talk about expanding a dying program.
