Ignorance On Display; Senator Patrick Leahy
Ignorance was on display in the words of Senator Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) as reported by Michael O’Brien of The Hill. The Senator stated that if the U.S. captures Osama bin Laden, there would be no need to provide him with Miranda rights. The Senator was attempting to soften the blows that Attorney General Eric Holder received yesterday when he stumbled badly on the question of Miranda as it would apply to bin Laden.
“The red herring that my friend Lindsey Graham was covering is not realistic. For one thing, capturing Osama bin Laden — we’ve had enough on him, we don’t need to interrogate him.” Leahy said.
So let’s see, bin Laden would not have any information concerning the terrorist network that could be gained by interrogation. The ignorance of that idea is beyond comprehension.
